Re-roofing
A new roof that looks like it was always there
When a roof is truly done, we replace it with the same material in the same pattern, or the material your commission allows. The drawing, the sample and the bid are one package, so you see the new roof before the old one comes off.
Strip to the deck and inspect it
Repair or replace the deck as found, at a per-board price in writing
Install underlayment suited to the material
Fit flashing, gutters and ridge details in copper
Clean up daily; magnet-sweep the grounds

How a re-roof goes
From the first call to the last sweep
- 01
Step 1: Visit and measure
We go over the roof and the attic with you, and photograph what we find.
- 02
Step 2: Application, if there is one
We prepare it, you sign it, and we attend the hearing.
- 03
Step 3: Order and match
Slate, shingle or copper is ordered once the sample is approved. Slate and copper can take weeks.
- 04
Step 4: Strip and inspect the deck
We open it up and show you the boards. Anything that needs replacing is priced by the board.
- 05
Step 5: Install
Underlayment, metal, then the roof. Details are done as we go, never at the end.
- 06
Step 6: Walk through
We go over the finished roof with you and send photographs for your file.
Before a re-roof
How long does it take?
Slate and copper are slow, hand-fitted work. The bid gives you the working days, and says what weather moves them.
Do I need to leave the house?
No. It will be loud, and we will tell you which days are loudest.
Who pulls the permit?
If the city requires a permit, we pull it, and it appears as a line in the bid.
Can the new roof go over the old one?
Not on slate or cedar. The old roof comes off so the deck can be inspected.
Ready to have us look at the roof?
A site visit is where it starts. The bid comes in writing afterward.
